I am pleased to announce that earlier this week I successfully defended my DMA document and passed my oral exams, with the result that I am now allowed to answer to “Dr. Hendricks” (!). I would like to thank everyone who has supported me through the process of earning this degree, most particularly my own private teachers (past and present) and the members of my committee. I would also like to extend a special thanks to my private students, who have been extremely understanding throughout this process. Should anyone wish to read my paper, it will be available through ProQuest in the near future.
In other news: I would like to congratulate two of my students, who placed third and fourth in Tuscaloosa’s All-American Cities Honor Band this weekend! Both of these guys are seventh graders who have been working extremely hard on their scales and who completed their auditions without being able to have a lesson during the preceding week, due to my travel schedule. Way to go!
Now that the DMA process is officially completed, I will be able to turn my full attention to my non-UA pursuits. Look for a new article to appear on this page in the next few days, and feel free to visit the brand new current events page on my home site to keep up with the latest developments in my performance schedule. If you are a regular visitor to the site and you’d like me to address something specific, please write and ask!
Thanks for reading and happy practicing!
